Two More!!

"Snowy Tree"

"Sweet Dreams"
After winning ribbons for 4 of my photos at our Heritage Festival, I was able to enter my first state competition. My girlfriend Kara and I entered and had a great time at the competition. I won two more ribbons!!! They were both honorable mentions and for my first go round at the state level, I am super proud of myself!!! Maybe I can tackle some Alaska competitions and see what happens next!

Class Gifts

For the last day of school I made little gift bags for my kids in my class. I bought little tote bags, bargain ribbon and characters that were iron-on. I chose different characters and styles that were unique for each child's personality. The whole project took about 3 hours to do 11 bags. I think they turned out just adorable and the kids LOVED them!

My first Quilt!!!

WHOOO-HOO!! It is about time. I have always loved quilts and knew they took a long time to make and they were made with love. Since I am a scrap-booker and new to the world of sewing, my mother in law took me to a huge quilt convention last year. It was amazing all the things we saw. I got inspired and picked up an "easy" mini quilt. uhhh-huh! Easy does not cut it! It was a little harder than I anticipated, but I am holding my own. I still need to add the backing and finish the jack of the flag. Will post again when closer to finished!

This Christmas I have been busy putting my sewing machine to good use and making a lot of the gifts. I took my first attempt at making a dress for my niece, Brooklyn. The one sin the boutiques can cost a pretty penny and I did not see the colors I really wanted. So I think it turned out pretty cute. Can't wait to see it on her in the Spring!

My parents celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary this halloween and I had a hard time deciding what to get the parents who have everything! My mom loves photos and my dad loves anything to do with my son. So I got creative and pulled out my new sewing machine! I think that they LOVED it!
